Though historically Arkansas has been a popular state for gaming, today there are only three locations. Two of the casinos are located at racetracks, and the third is a Native American casino.
Arkansas has a long history with gambling, dating all the way back to the Civil War and even Prohibition. At the pinnacle of Hot Springs Gambling, there were 10 major casinos and a multitude of minor casinos. At that time Hot Springs, Arkansas had more minor locations than Las Vegas. Years later, with the political climate shifting after World War II, legal and regulatory issues would shut down gambling in Arkansas for almost 40 Years.
Arkansas’ minimum gambling age at all casinos is 21, however it is 18 for pari-mutuel wagering.
